Abstract
To recognize the key road sections that significantly impact the operational efficiency of the entire road network, a key road section identification model is developed based on an evaluation of their importance and weakness, taking into account the reliability of road network mobility. According to the definition of the mobility reliability of urban road network, mobility reliability of road section is calculated through the relationship between the saturation and mobility reliability of the road section. By analyzing urban road network structure, path and OD point-to-point reliability can be calculated. Considering the distribution of road network traffic flow, a mobility reliability model of road network is established. Important road sections are identified through an assessment that considers the connectivity of road sections, road’s distance, and the classification of each section. Meanwhile, combined with the mobility reliability, sensitivity analysis is conducted to determine weak road sections. By combining the importance and weakness of the road section, the key sections are identified. A complex network containing expressways, main roads, sub-main roads, and branch roads is used to verify and analyze. The findings demonstrate that the developed model and methodology effectively and accurately distinguish the critical sections. This method can provide reference and basis for the recognition of key road sections
