Abstract
We demonstrate that part of the absorption of coated glass substrates is due to the photoinduced absorption of the substrate during the evaporation process. This phenomenon, called solarization, results from short wavelength radiation due to the interaction between electrons emitted by the electron gun and the material to be evaporated. We develop a method of front and back illumination of samples in order to separate each part of the in-depth absorption using photothermal measurements: bulk and interface absorption of the thin film, substrate absorption. This way, we can present the balance of absorption losses in different single layer films.
