Abstract
It is shown that the parameters limiting holographic gratings amplitudes in a nonlinear photosensitive medium with immobilized bacteriorhodopsin (BR) could be defined from absorption characteristics at the working wavelength. These parameters are the saturation intensity and photochromic and photorefractive sensitivity linked with Kramers-Kronig relations. The experimental results obtained with BR D96N suspension demonstrates fine agreement with the predicted data calculated from differential absorption spectra.
