Abstract
The article presents a description of the basics of the wide-baseline stereo problem, and the examples of the most typical wide baseline stereo applications. Major problems that appear in the applications are identified and discussed, including the problem of the geometric distortions between the views and the problem of the varying illumination. The presentation of the problems is based mostly on the example of a simple, artificial wide-baseline scene.
