This paper presents an implementation of the Martlet wireless sensing system for performing bridge weigh-in-motion and structural health monitoring at an in-service highway bridge. In this research, a field study is carried out on a steel I-girder bridge which carries Interstate 85 near LaGrange, GA. The bridge is instrumented with accelerometers, strain gages, thermistors, and LIDAR sensors interfaced with Martlet wireless sensing units. Multiple controlled bridge weigh-in-motion tests are performed by driving a loaded dump truck across the bridge. The installed system remains operational for long-term monitoring and near real-time bridge weigh-in-motion.
