Profile Summary

I have a BS is in Physics from Brigham Young University (2006). I am currently a PhD student under Professor Jason Jones at the University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences. I spent some time studying coherent high harmonic generation and building an amplifier system as well as a passive enhancement cavity for our femtosecond frequency comb to that end. We hope to demonstrate coherent HHG in the vacuum ultraviolet regime by performing spectroscopy on laser-cooled atoms.

I also have experience in laser source development. We published a paper describing a novel amplifier for high repetition rate femtosecond frequency combs. Most recently I finished development of our own ultraviolet laser cooling source utilizing optically pumped semiconductor diode lasers. This work was in collaboration with with the "novel lasers" group here at Optical Sciences. We used our ultra-violet laser to demonstrate saturated absorption spectroscopy on Hg atoms, and now have built a magneto-optical trap for neutral Hg using this laser source.

I was awarded a SPIE scholarship (2009) for my research efforts.
