Arunkumar Jagannathan is an experimental physicist at the University of Southern California’s Information Sciences Institute in Boston pursuing research in the areas of quantum information and communication. He earned his PhD in atomic, molecular, and optical physics from Duke University in 2016 under the supervision of Dr. John Thomas, where he conducted the first experiments on optically controlling scattering interactions in ultracold atoms using electromagnetically induced transparency. As a postdoctoral researcher at Duke, he developed an optical Vernier for probing momentum dependent scattering interactions in ultracold atoms and created a quantum “sandwich” of resonantly and weakly interacting atoms. He earned his MS (physics) from University of Massachusetts Lowell in 2010. He holds an undergraduate degree in electronics and communication engineering from Anna University in Madras, India.
